*~CHAPTER 2~*

Christine watched out of the window of the family car, trying to ignore the bumpy potholes Star seemed to love crossing over. She noticed a huge moving truck just as they went down their street.

“Hey, who’s moving in?” she questioned hoping Star heard her, even though nowadays the volume was turned up full gear when she drove.

“I don’t know, haven’t really noticed” she replied. “Why don’t you go over later and introduce yourself?”

Christine laughed at the mere idea. “What time period are you in, nobody does that anymore”

“Just a sugestion, Just a sugestion”

The screaming crowd in the gym cheering her team on were making Star’s stomach do flip flops up and down. She was quite nervous now, despite the fact that this was the championship game, AND scouts from colleges were in the crowd also. She adjusted her adidas headband, making her way through her teammates to where Kate was sitting.

“I’m so nervous” Star whimpered, sitting down next to Kate.

“I know how you feel” She replied, “But we will not lose this, I won’t let it”

Star smiled, “I won’t let it either”

[THE GAME]

Taylor looked down from the bleachers. He noticed even he was nervous about this game. Sure, it shouldn’t have an impact on him, but he just hoped that Star would get a good scholorship. It meant so much to her. He felt his heart pumping more and more as the game wore on.

Star did the best she could, heaving the ball at her teammates and taking as many shots as possible. It paid off, for the game was coming near to the end and her team was winning by 3 points. Not much was her team beating the opposing, but she knew they would win. It was a feeling that always was inside her when she knew they would win.

“TIME!!” Star saw the “T” sign and retreated back to her coach for pep talk. She realized she was persevering quite a bit and wiped her forehead.

“Alright, we are going to do the play we did at practice. We are 3 points ahead, come on we can do this!” And with that last comment he clapped his hands and shoved his team on.

The timer ticked on....15 minutes

Star ran, doing the play the best she could.

‘alright, the ball is going to be passed right...NOW’

It all came so fast...one minute she was dribbling down the ball and suddenly..BAM! she had hit the ground. Rubbing her head she continued on.....

Christine strapped on her blades and took off. She was heading out to meet up with Zac and go to Star’s important game. She would have gotten there earlier, but Zac had to do some chores or whatever first. Sighing she made her way cruising down the street. She concentrated on how comforting the wind was blowing on her face.....BAM!

*****************

“SHUT UP!” Star shouted angrily at the opposing teams crowd. She had been so clumsy the upper half of the game it wasn’t even funny. Her coach pulled her out of the game to talk to her.

“I can’t do it” Star mumbled frustrated

“Look, Star I know you have potential. You have showed that to me all this season. Now you just have to loosen up and play the game” Coach Newman took off his hat and put it down.

Starla breathed a huge sigh of defeat at his statement, “Look coach just take me out out of the game, I don’t want the team to lose because of me”

The coach looked at her with an eyebrow raised. “Look, just envision that you are going to win, know you are going to win no matter what. The crowds would be cheering...the team wins the championships while you go and celebrate. Remember, a game is just a game and nothing more. I would throw away championships if my team weren’t having fun playing in it. Do that for me” the coach finished his lecture and shoved her back in the game.

*************

“Uh Hi” Christine’s attention shifted to the guy that she had obviously crashed into.

“Oh...I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking and...” she trailed off taking a good look at him. Mesmorizing hazel eyes looked back at her, short brown hair messed up a little because of the “accident”

“Its okay, I get run over by girls a lot” he said chuckling a little, “My name’s Erik”

“Uh...Christine” she stuttered.

“Do you live around here?” Erik asked curiously.

“Yeah, I live a few blocks down, do you?” She smiled, blushing a little.

“Well I just moved in so I don’t know a lot of people yet” He smiled again.

“Um, actually I could show you around if you want” Christine said seizing the moment

“Cool, um I can’t now but what do you think about like tommorow?”

Christine raised her eyebrow, she was going to do something with Zac..but he wouldn’t mind right?..ZAC! “Um, Sure!...Actually I have to leave right now, but i’ll meet you here tommorow around...I don’t know, got any ideas?”

“Well...is one okay?” Erik asked.

“Yeah sure! Well I gotta go....”

After a surprisingly long goodbye, they finally parted. Zac opened the door.

“Geez, you’re late”

“I was ah....occupied....”

Zac looked at her strangly..”What do you mean?”

“Its just I met....nothing” Zac rolled his eyes and strugged.
