Laying on the bed and enjoying the cool air breezing through the window, 16 year old Starla Jenks thought back of the past year. So much has happened and she didn’t have much control over it.
It is 1998, a year that had been so incredible. Taylor and her still were going out, every second was enjoyed between the two. After the news got out that she and Tay were an “item,” she had beeen sort of a star herself. Whenever they were spotted in public, she got scowls and frowns from fans, but most were respectful enough not to be mean about the whole ordeal. In fact, Tay was coming back on Sunday, the day after tommorow. Star smiled at the thought.
The guys themselves hadn’t changed much except Tay did cut his hair short, just enough so he could tuck fallen strands of hair behind his ears. Zac was a wild 13 year old, enjoying all the attention he got. But he had always enjoyed that. It was quite funny, he would be running around stage all the time and yet be so shy around Star’s sister, Christine. She was surprised neither Christine or Zac had gone out or anything. They liked each other alot, and “hung out” as they called it, as much as they can. Despite how much Tay and her made fun of them, they really wanted to see them hook up. ‘a miracle would have to make that happen’ Star thought chuckling. As for Issac, he hadn’t changed at all and currently developing a crush on this girl name Jane.
School was as usual, finals were next week, so she had better get a move on the studying. Which is why she wouldn’t be able to go to the airport to meet Tay.
The biggest game of her life would be on Saturday, scouts from colleges were coming in to watch her team. Unfortunately Tay wouldn’t be there because he wouldn’t be back in time, but nevertheless he would be back and that was all that mattered to her.......
“Hey, ready for the big game?” Kate inquired looking quizically, “All we need is this game to win championships, not to mention maybe a scholorship”
“Kate, you really have to ease up!” Star turned her attention back her math book.
“Yeah, but if I screw it up” her tone suddenly took a dive from clear speech to mumbling, “then its’ll be my fault”
“Please do not tell me you think thats true. Its just a game, have some confidence in yourself!”
“I guess you’re right. Speaking of which, your romeo is here”
Star turned around in surprise to see Taylor just walking in with a triumphant smile on his face.
“Tay! I thought you weren’t comin back ‘till tommorow night!!” She said, pulling him into a hug and gave him a quick kiss.
“There was an earlier flight, mom and dad dragged us out of bed at 5 in the morning to make it”
Star laughed, “So that explains the eyes”
“Yup! But at least now i’ll be able to see your big game tommrow refreshed” his eyebrows rose up slightly, “you two ready?”
“Ugh!” Kate threw up her arms up in protest and gathered up her things, “I can’t take this”
“Where the heck are you going, we have to study for finals!”
“Star, I have to practice! I can’t screw this up” Kate exasperated.
“Come on, we’re practicing tonight, remember?”
“Yes, I do but i’m going to get an early start!” And with that, Kate took off with her stuff without saying a goodbye.
“Yeah, a 3 hour early start” Star grumbled.
“What was that all about?” Taylor asked.
“We were just talking about the game, she’s just nervous, thats all”
“Oh....” he looked around, “Question: did you miss me?”
“Did you?” she asked teasing him.
“I don’t know......all those days without your sarcastic comments were pretty nice..”
Star laughed, “So now I know what you REALLY think!”
“Yeah....but” he wrapped his arms around her from behind the chair, observing what she was doing. “Truthfully I missed you alot”
“Me too” she agreed, “So how were the teenyboppers in Toronto?”
“Loud as ever” he replied, “Math homework?”
“Great observation sherlock!”
Taylor plopped onto the bed and stretched out, “I’m exhausted”
“Aww, why didn’t you sleep before you came here?”
“I couldn’t wait to see you”
Starla smiled at him sympathetically, joining him “You know, it isn’t safe for you to drive here when you’re half asleep”
“In that case, can I just sleep here for like an hour, ‘cause everyone is so loud and excited about coming home i’m never going to get some rest”
“Sure,” she replied but Tay was already asleep. Not wanting to disturb him, she gave him a kiss on the forehead and went out in the living room to study.
